David Campany is a writer, curator and artist.
He writes mainly about photography, art and cinema. His books include Art and Photography(Phaidon 2003), Photography and Cinema (2008), Jeff Wall: Picture for Women (2010), Gasoline(2013) and Walker Evans: the magazine work (2014). He also writes for Frieze, Aperture, Art Review, FOAM magazine, Source and Tate magazine.
Recent curatorial projects include Victor Burgin: A Sense of Place (AmbikaP3 London, 2013),Mark Neville, Deeds Not Words (The Photographers’ Gallery London, 2013) and Anonymes: Unnamed America in Photography and Film (Le Bal Paris, 2010).
David has a Phd and is Reader in Photography at the University of Westminster (London) where he teaches at all levels in both photographic practice and theory.
David is a recipient of the ICP Infinity Award for his writings on photography.
